First Games for 2013

Yesterday saw our first meet up of the year for a 4 player game. I had put together two fun decks to try out, a Daughters Shattering Crescendo with an Ashur/Liquidation core and a Harbingers of Skulls intercept/mill deck.

The first game had my Daughters, G1/2 mid-cap Stealth/Bleed, Ventrue Anti tribune vote and a G1/2 POT combat with Princes (in that seating order). The SB deck tore through the !Vent vote deck in about 5/6 turns. The Daughters deck took a while to get going as a poor initial draw meant it was unable to put enough pressure on the SB to slow down it's big bleeds. The combat deck also didn't draw well in the early game and had to resort to small bleeds to try and entice a block, which didn't happen. However by mid-game both the Daughters and combat decks were drawing properly into their decks. The SB vamps were taking some damage from the Shattering Crescendos and ending up in torpor. Meanwhile, the Daughters were being put into torpor themselves. A Fame was put on one of the SB vamps but ended up being contested soon after before it could be used. The game finished up with the combat deck putting all of the Daughters and SB vamps into torpor and finishing with some bleeds.

The second game saw my Harbingers intercept/mill deck, the same !Vent deck from the first game and a Ventrue breed and vote deck packing quite a few parity shifts.  The game was over rather quickly as the Ventrue breed and vote deck had a Zillah's Valley in the very first hand which locked down the vote majority rather quickly. The Harbingers didn't start fast enough and got KRC'ed and Parity Shifted into oblivion.  The !Ventrue deck tried its best but could only get one or two votes through, which wasn't enough to make a difference.  Needless to say the Ventrue breed and vote swept the table.

We decided that it would be a good idea to not try and play as if every game was a tournament and to build some crazy fun decks that do things people don't usually see.  I look forward to these games in the near future.
